Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2018: First official image

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van 2018
The first official image of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The first official image of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter - in the form of a computer graphic drawing - was shown in Atlanta (USA) where the largest North American commercial vehicle exhibition “North American Commercial Vehicle Show (NACV)” takes place.

As can be seen from the sketch, the new 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has a "muscular", sporty appearance. It is enough to look at the headlights, the radiator grille and the front bumper. The van will receive various electronic driver assistance systems, as well as an arsenal of variants, which will make it even more convenient as an individual transport.

It’s officially stated that the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will enter the European market in the first half of next year, and then it will become available in other continents. A big bet is made on the US market. And it wasn’t a coincidence that the first sketch was presented there.

It was also announced that a new plant is being built in the city of North Charleston, which will produce the next-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Current US-market Sprinters are delivered to the North American enterprise in disassembled form, where it is pre-assembled. The new plant will significantly shorten the delivery of vehicles to the customers.

The 2018 Sprinter is the first Benz transport vehicle to follow Mercedes' adVANce business initiative, a push to modernize vans with cutting-edge technology and make Mercedes more than just a car company.

The first generation of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter appeared in 1995. Since that time more than 3.3 million cars of different generations have been manufactured, which operate in 130 countries around the world. This is the most massive commercial car with a three-beam star. According to the results of the first half of 2017, Sprinter showed record sales figures for 20 years - 96,200 units, which is more than for the first six months of 2016 (95,100 units).

Large Van Rentals in Las Vegas

There’s a reason why Las Vegas is frequently ranked as one of the most visited tourist destinations around the world, and it’s not Nevada’s desert. Whether you’re interested in fine dining, entertainment, gambling, shopping, or a vibrant night life that always manages to surprise, the Entertainment Capital of the World has something in store for all tastes. Nonetheless, the in-flow of visitors and presence of more triple-A five diamond hotels than any other city on the planet tends to spike transportation costs beyond what you’d like to pay. This is why Sprinter Rentals can be found in Las Vegas. We take pride in making sure that you don’t regret your large van rental choice for one second, allowing you to spend your finances on what matters most for you.

Las Vegas Large Van rentals

Looking to rent a large van in Las Vegas? The 15-seater Sprinter is one of the most affordable ways to get around Sin City with a large group of people. From Henderson to Centennials Park, Spring Valley’s Wet’n’Wild or the Motor Speedway, you can leave no stone unturned with this capacious and highly versatile van. The 12-seater option is also a great way to go if you want to rent a large van, but you have some luggage to carry around as well, whereas the 9-seater comfort van makes for an unforgettable ride in those soft, supportive captain chairs. Alternatively, if you’re looking to rent a large van in Las Vegas that has limousine-like qualities, the 9-seater business van allows passengers to lounge in the soft leather recliners and seating, while facing a 32-inch LCD screen. Moreover, the 11-seater executive van is also equipped with a cooler for storing your favorite champagne or up to 30 cans of soda.

large passenger van rentals in Las Vegas

Plus, Sprinter Rentals has more than large passenger van rentals in store for you. Cargo or crew-cargo options are available for transporting goods or equipment around Las Vegas or throughout Nevada! In terms of additional materials and storage space, an important detail that’s often overlooked is the possibility to tow. Given that all of our fleet is equipped to tow up to 5,000 lbs., additional belongings are no issue with our vehicles. All the vans have a 170-inch wheelbase rendering a smooth and easy driving experience, while also keeping the weight distributed across the axels to prevent understeering or oversteering.

Daimler plans to switch the entire Mercedes-Benz fleet to electric vehicles by 2022

Daimler plans to switch the entire Mercedes-Benz fleet to electric vehicles by 2022

Mercedes-Benz goes all electric

By 2022, all Mercedes-Benz cars will be available in an electric version to provide a maximum choice for our customers," said CEO Dieter Zetsche at the German automaker's investment day.
This means that by 2022, the manufacturer should release about fifty different electrical models on the market. Cars from the Mercedes brand, Smart, will no longer be equipped with internal combustion engines and only sold as electric cars.

The company wants to save around four billion euros by 2025, because the margin on electric cars sales, due to the built-in batteries, is lower than that of regular cars with an internal combustion engine. Zetsche argues that this will be the case in the beginning.

While cars of the brand Smart completely ignore electric motors, this does not seem to be the case with the rest of the Mercedes Benz range. However, from 2022, for each model will be offered an electric version, but models with internal combustion engines may also be sold.

Mercedes is on its way to realising their 2022 target with the addition of the EQ range in its lineup. After the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ in 2016, the premium brand is gearing for the launch of its Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ A at the IAA in Frankfurt.

Are we going to see an electric version of Sprinter Van soon? Only time will tell.

Exploring California (San Diego, Los Angeles) by Sprinter Van. Part 3

There we go. Third day of this adventure, and so far things are going well. The best thing about van camping is that each morning you wake up and break camp repack it, and then you're off. It definitely feels super free. And personally, this is the first time I've taken my Sprinter Van on some serious distance. It has been going really well. We are packed up, ready to go. First stop: breakfast. Let's hit it. So what is the plan? Right now we are in San Luis Obispo. We're going to get back on the van, and we're going to loop down to this place called Montana de Oro. It's a state park. It's supposedly super beautiful. We get full views of Morro Bay. From there, we're going to come back down, rejoin the Highway to Morro Bay. We're going to check out Morro Rock, which is a giant rock. From there, onto Highway to Paso Robles, where we're going to ditch the van and get into wine tasting mode.

Montana De Oro state park Sprinter Van

Well...San Luis Obispo, cute little town, dude. Super cool. Let's go check out Morro Bay. A quick little pit stop at Montana de Oro. State Park. Gorgeous little wild flowers everywhere, and this beach that we haven't quite got a view of is just over there. We got a glimpse of it when we were riding in, and it looks gorgeous. Beautiful, man. Absolutely beautiful. I think that Central California is so cool because it's just so uncrowded, and that's dictated by geography. The Los Angeles basin was connected to the rest of the country by the train. San Francisco had the Gold Rush. But this part of the coastline is just the right balance of inaccessible, but stunningly gorgeous. But overall, it's just a little bit too far to get the crowds, and that's what makes the journey worth the trip.

We pulled over at Morro Rock, in Morro Bay. There're literally little otters just chillin' right here. And there're babies...baby otters. It's cute-ness overload. The first European expedition here was the Portola Expedition, the Spanish. The name "Morro" is a Spanish word that means a big rock formation. It's kind of shaped like Gilbralter. That's what gives the bay its name. And in more recent times, it's also the name of a really awesome electro song called Morro Bay. Summer never ends in California. We're saying goodbye to Morro Bay. We're going to be saying goodbye to the PCH for a little bit. We're heading inland to Paso Robles. We're going to be taking a cool little detour on a road called Old Creek Road. This road trip is all about back roads. Here we go... Old Creek Road. Wow. An incredible ride up here from Morro Bay, and now we are in Paso Robles.

Paso Robles is a super famous wine region. It's one of the best in the state. It's probably the country, and it combines the soil of Bordeaux with the climate of Napa. So that makes some great wine. Let's go check it out.

Sprinter Van wine tasting trip

There's a couple of wines we are tasting. They are famous for the zinfandels here. We're going to work our way up to that, the bolder wines, starting with something on the lighter side. This is the Atua. It's a bend of cabernet, zinfandel, and petite sirah. It's really fruity from the zinfandel, but also tart from the cherries. Wine first came to California with the Franciscan Missionaries during the Colonial Times. It was brought back about years ago by Americans, and after Prohibition, this place really came into its age in the s with the new generation of wine makers. Even compared to a decade or two ago, there's just been an explosion of wineries.

We're going to finish off this day with an excellent meal at a restaurant in downtown Paso Robles.
Another beautiful day in Central California. We went up the coast, up to wine country, and toped it off with a great meal. Can't complain. This is the type of adventure we want to keep doing. We want to do it in more far - flung places. In the meantime, stay curious, keep exploring and we'll see you guys on the road with our Sprinter Van.

Exploring California (San Diego, Los Angeles) by Sprinter Van. Part 2

All right ladies and gentlemen, we're going to give you guys a quick breakdown of what's on the plate for today. We have a pretty awesome section of California that we're going to be riding with our Sprinter Van today. Basically, we're starting off here in Santa Ynez Valley, and we're going to be driving through a couple of these little Central Californian oddities. There are some cool towns here - Solvang, Buellton, and then out to Jalama Beach, which is at the tip of Point Conception, and we're going to call it a day out by Pismo Beach/ Avila Beach area.

California Sprinter Van road trip

Let's hop in our Sprinter Van and get some breakfast. A fun little ride out of the Santa Ynez Valley. We're in the funky town of Solvang. It's literally like a little miniature Denmark here, the sister city Albergue in Denmark. It's definitely one of the quirkier spots in the Central California coast, and we're going to go start off the day right with some cinnamon buns and coffee, both of which are very Danish and very necessary right now. Let's go. Cinnamon. This is a bear claw with marzipan. And this is called a Spandle. It is custard and it means baker's eye. OMG. Decadent. A lot of people think that cinnamon buns are American. They actually come from Scandinavia, and the reason they use cinnamon, which is a spice that came from the Middle East and Asia because Vikings sailed down Black Sea and traded with Arab traders a thousand years ago. Isn't that crazy? This town is funky, certainly by no means a hidden gem. There are big tour busses dropping off people from Australia, Korea, China, but it's still really quirky. It's funny to see this little slice of Europe here in the middle of California.

Well, we made it here to the vintage motorcycle museum. Unfortunately it is closed, but you can peep in. There are some nice bikes back there, and you call them and they'll come open it for you. It's only open on the weekends. From Monday to Friday they will open it for you. However, we're going to continue because we're trying to cover some ground today, and we don't really have time to be wasting time, so we're going forward.

We're on the Santa Rosa Road, heading out to Point Conception and Jalama Beach. We've passed all sorts of vineyards and ranches. There are cattle; there's wine and there are these beautiful open roads. For me, personally, this is one of the coolest parts of California. There's an Air Force base down here, and back in the day when they were doing the space program, they thought they were going to land the Space Shuttle here. So the Air Force bought up all development rights for these ranches right here, but they ultimately ended up landing the space shuttles over in Cape Canaveral. These ranches are not able to be developed, and it's a beautiful untouched part of California.

All right you guys, we've just feasted on a Jalama burger, and now we're just chillin at Jalama Beach, which is absolutely gorgeous. It really reminds me of Blacks Beach in San Diego or Baja California, but a kind of a crazy history that we just encountered inside of the general store. The largest US Navy disaster in peacetime took place here in. It's called the Honda Point Disaster. It was September - seven ships were completely lost out of a fourteen ship armada, which ran aground right on the other side of this point. people were killed. It's just kind of crazy to think...it's such a beautiful calm day; you'd never really imagine that the weather can get pretty severe out here and difficult to navigate. I really do wish that we could hang out here all weekend. We're going to have to come back and definitely spend a couple of days here.

Sprinter Van California road adventures

We've got a long way to go to our next destination. We're going to have to hit the throttle of our Sprinter Van because we got a lot of mileage to cover. Luckily, we're taking one of the least known sections of the PCH: Highway between Lompoc, Santa Maria and Pismo Beach. Let's go. Let's do it. We have arrived to Avila Beach. Camp is made, kind of. Time to go to the hotsprings. We are bathed, showered, and starving. So where're we going to go eat? Well, I'll be honest. It takes a lot to get me out of that hot tub after such a relaxing soak, but we're going to go to a restaurant called Ember. It's a local or organic awesome restaurant, which is just down the road. It's supposed to be worth it for the whole trip, so should be good. We're going to hop into an uber. We're not going to ride our van so we can have a beverage or two, and yeah, enjoy a good meal. Beard in your beer. We just got our first two dishes, and they look delicious. The one that I'm most stoked about is this pork ragout over some pasta. It's got sauteed kale, and it looks incredible. I have to say great job, great find. Would never have known that this place existed. The Ember has sparked a flame, and I will return and feast here again.

Enjoy the ride. We're just riding our beast from feast to feast. Ok, fine, but I have the saying of rough camping and fine dining. There you go. Take it. We're saving money on accommodation. Rough camping, fine dining, and we're at our beasts from feast to feast. And then we're spending the money on nice restaurants. If you guys enjoyed this story, stay tuned for the next one because we're going to Big Sur, but the road is closed. We're taking a detour through Paso Robles. Going to be dope. You know what to do: stay curious, keep exploring, we'll see you on the road tomorrow. California Sprinter Van adventure continues.

How to have the perfect summer road trip - tips from famous Sprinter Van owners

Tips for a perfect summer road trip with a Sprinter Van

Summer is here, so it's time to plan your vacation. We asked some of the most famous Sprinter Camper Van owners on Instagram to share their tips for the perfect American summer road trip.

permanentroadtrip

 @permanentroadtrip

1. Use iOverlander app to find free camping.
2. Load Gas Guru. It has saved us so much on fuel costs.
3. Watch the rpms and find where your van works best. If we drive 60mph we get 26mpg, if we go 75 mph we only get 18mpg.
4. Have some fun before starting a drive. We learned that if we get up and drive right away, we probably won't do anything fun that day.
5. If you find a killer campsite, stick around for a couple days. Same goes for when you meet awesome people.

The 170 Sprinter I find is the largest vehicle that you can relatively easily find parking for in most locations. Anything larger than this and I think in certain situations it would be a struggle. The 170 I find I can use most standard parkings lots and never feel as though I am out of place.

Julius the Van

You've got flexibility when you're traveling in a Sprinter — take advantage!
We've found ourselves adapting our plans, like by driving further at the end of the day, or by staying an extra day somewhere. Basically, you don't have to be glued to your plans when you can pretty much camp anywhere you can park. When we make a decision to do something off our initial plan, we call it "pushing off the rocks." It always turns out to be a good idea, or an adventure at least. When you're willing to let go of your idea of what an experience is supposed to be, you can let it be whatever it really is.

My #1 road trip tip would be to realize that the destination isn't the whole trip. There is so much good stuff hidden along the way. We find great food and wonderfull people and bookmark future adventures by making sure to embrace the journey, not just make a B line to the destination.

Exploring California (San Diego, Los Angeles) by Sprinter Van. Part 1

Enjoy the story of two guys exploring California told in first person:

We are on the cusp of a very big adventure. We're going to ride our van up the coast to Big Sur. We're heading to Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Mountains.

Sprinter Van Roadtrip Los Angeles

Let us tell you about the route we're going to take. We're here in Venice Beach, and we're going to take the PCH, Highway 1 all the way up the coast past Malibu, Ventura, hop on the 101, get to Santa Barbara, have lunch there probably, and then make our way up to the Santa Ynez Mountains. We're going to be camping tonight, which should be a good adventure.... a little bit of rough camping, a little bit of fine dining, a nice balance right there, and we're going to have a good time.

We are driving a nice Mercedes-Benz Comfort Sprinter Van and we are ready for an adventure. Let's go. Whoahoo. And we're off. Up here on the left, we have the world famous Malibu, small and fun as usual. It feels like we're already on the Central Coast here, leaving LA at Zuma Beach. The PCH is one of my favorite roads. How about you?
I love this road, man. Road it on my bicycle when I finished college, and now it's kind of cool to go up it on a van. I like it.

Stop number 1: Ventura County.
We just crossed County Line from Los Angeles to Ventura County, and we're pulled over real quick at Neptune's Net, a famous biker bar.

We're on the road. Yeah, man. I think it's official. We're out of LA, and you can already feel the climate change... it's a bit more country up here. There's more of a ranch vibe in a lot of spots, uncrowded coastline, and the PCH is going to be our guide all the way up to Big Sur with a couple detours. This is the artery of California, and I'm stocked to go explore.

Coffee break is completed. I think this is the northern most limit I've gone on the PCH on our van. We've done it by car, but for me, at least, this is all fresh territory moving north.

Next stop is Santa Barbara. We have a bit of driving to do before we get there. How far is it? 50 or 60 miles from here, 70? An hour and a half? It's going to take a while, yeah.
We should hit the road. Let's do it. Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived to beautiful Santa Barbara, California. I really like coming back here. I went to school here, back in the day. Honestly, this is one of the prettiest towns in California. We're in the heart of the old Spanish city. There's a presidio here. There's a mission nearby.

On the way up here, we passed all these arched bells along the road on the 101, which is because the 101 was originally known as El Camino Real, a royal road that linked together all the missions which the Spanish built, which are the backbone of California. Each mission was about a day's journey apart on horseback, a journey being from the Latin word "for a day." This thing called the Land Shark just went by, and I'm having a serious college flashback.
It's basically an aquatic bus. Somebody in college rented it out for a birthday party. We put a keg on it, and we drove down State Street drinking beers. And then from State Street went straight into the harbor and had a boat tour with a keg. It was the coolest birthday party ever. The great thing about this part of the coast is how the mountain range just comes right down to the coast, which creates a really cool ecosystem, and it means that we can just leave the city and in a couple of minutes be way up in the mountains. I love how California has so many different ecosystems, and you can really feel the shift here. The water current off the coast is colder here than it is down in Los Angeles. It's because of the ocean currents from the Channel Islands. The Channel Islands were right on the edge of two different ocean currents. The one from the north is way colder. It brings a lot of nutrients... but also causes a lot of fog. It does get foggy, but when it's sunny, it is unbeatable, honestly.

Sprinter Van road trip California

Ladies and gentlemen, we are on Gibraltar Road. We've left Santa Barbara behind. We are up in the Santa Ynez Mountains. This road is gorgeous. It's beyond gorgeous. We're surrounded by all these beautiful mountains. We've got probably another 25 miles. It's super twisty, so we're taking our time. Oh the views. The views are to ride for.

We have finally arrived at our camp site tonight in this beautiful little oak grove. It's the golden hour, and we're going to claim the campsite. There's a fire pit down there.
And then hop back on the Sprinter Van and head to Cold Springs Tavern to get dinner and a drink. One of the reasons that we're traveling so light is that we're using Bivy Sacs. It's like a condom for your sleeping bag. It's a water proof layer that you put outside your sleeping bag. We're going to be able to sleep under the stars without a tent. It's generally the best campsite we could have found.

We've arrived at the Cold Springs Tavern. This place is so cool. It's nestled in a little nook here. It's from the old stage coach route, from the 1860s forward when this was part of the mail route. This place is incredible. It's so homey and vintage and western. The food looks amazing. It smells really good in here. That was quite a well deserved meal after an epic first day on the road. Today was one of the most fun days I have had in a very long time. And to end it with a legit meal...at a place as awesome and authentic as Cold Springs Tavern...I don't think there's a better way to end it. Except the fact that we're going to sleep in a forest. We're going to go camp under the stars.

Stay curious, keep exploring, and we'll see you on the road. The road trip continues. Stay tuned for part 2.
